What is dim-to-warm?

Dim-to-Warm describes a technology in which the light color automatically changes to warm white as the brightness decreases. This means that not only does the dimming level of the light change, but also the color temperature.
The dimming curve is similar to that of incandescent and halogen bulbs.

Dim to Warm spots: Inspired by nature

Our Dim to Warm LED spots create a cozy atmosphere by producing a warmer light when dimmed. This technology makes it possible to create atmospheric lighting that is particularly appreciated in living and sleeping areas. The Dim2warm spots only require one dimming channel, and the ratio of the two whites can be adjusted on our products using the frequency of the PWM dimmer.

Advantages of Dim to Warm:

With Dim to Warm, the color temperature automatically changes to a warmer, more pleasant white light when dimming, similar to the dimming behavior of incandescent bulbs and halogen spotlights. The atmospheric lighting creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere and adapts to your needs! The simple control allows flexible adjustment of the light intensity and color temperature with just one dimming channel.

Areas of application:

Dim to Warm Spots are particularly suitable for rooms that are used at different times of the day:

  • Living room: Create a warm and cozy atmosphere for relaxed evenings. But you can also benefit from clear, neutral white light at full brightness
  • Bedrooms: Adjust the lighting (including the blue component in the white light!) to create a calming environment for restful sleep.
  • Dining room: Ensure pleasant lighting during dinner and bright, neutral light for the children's homework

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What does Dim to Warm mean?

Dim2warm means that the color temperature of the light becomes warmer when it is dimmed. This creates a cozy and relaxing atmosphere that is ideal for living areas. When dimmed significantly – and therefore very warm white – the lighting is reminiscent of candlelight and a campfire atmosphere.

How do I control the Dim to Warm function?

The Dim to Warm function can be controlled via a compatible PWM dimmer and a smart home system, which allows you to set the desired light intensity and color temperature.

How did Emilum define the color curve?

We stuck with the classic in lighting, the good old incandescent bulb and halogen spotlights. These light sources also produce a warmer white tone when dimmed.

Are there alternative LED spots to dim to warm?

Yes, tuneable white spots require an additional dimming channel, but this allows the color temperature to be controlled independently of the dimming level. Experienced users can also integrate the dim to warm curve into their smart home system and adjust it to their personal preferences.
